Under the organization and initiative of the CESSI (Chamber for Software and IT Services Companies), the third edition of the Sadosky Awards was held yesterday at the Hilton Hotel in Buenos Aires, with the presence of nearly 600 attendees, in order to acknowledge the promoters of the Argentine market of information technologies.
The ceremony was held within the framework of the annual dinner organized by the Chamber. Present were the recently elected president
Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, and the ministers of labor and education,
Carlos Tomada and
Daniel Filmus, among other authorities. Fourteen awards were granted for the areas of Human Resources, IT Industry, Technology, Press and Investment, in addition to the Sadosky Gold, received by Carlos Pallotti, who has just ended a four-year term of office in directing the CESSI.
The support of the future government
"A place I could not miss was precisely this one. During the whole presidential campaign I invoked this, specially the technological activity and software sector, as an example of the rate of creation of new enterprises, the highest in these last four years and a half, but essentially because it also revealed the quality of growth we, the Argentine people, are experiencing," said the elected president.
"For too much time in our country knowledge was interpreted as something isolated from society, almost as
intellectual property of certain sectors. Today, we can see throughout the world that precisely the countries with biggest economic and social development have been able to
link knowledge and intelligence to the economic and productive process. This is, I believe, the key that should allow a
qualitative jump," she added.
In addition, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner highlighted the creation of the
Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (see also
Argentina will have a Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation), as a very clear sign to society and the enterprise world, "on which we strongly bet because we deem it a very proper instrument precisely to make this link we need between knowledge, intelligence and productive process."
A point of inflection
"Many years ago, we were not received by a deputy secretary of the State; but today we have the honor to have seated here with us the newly elected president of Argentina. This shows we have gone through a whole process,” said Calello, Chairman of the CESSI.
"Today, we are at a point of inflection. We can speak about statistics and how well we are doing and we can do in the future. But today we have a sense of responsibility and the conditions necessary to assume the responsibility that our industry has towards the Argentine society. We are in times where information technologies are the matter necessary to develop a country.” In this sense, the officer noted the new strategic plan prepared by the chamber, which is already in the hands of the future government.
On the other hand, after receiving the Sadosky Gold, Carlos Pallotti said to those present: "I will dare to launch a challenge for the whole private sector: just like we have shown from the CESSI that the association works, it is time we work on the association of the whole sector, and that the CESSI and the CICOMRA delete the gray areas they still have. And it is time that all the chambers linked to information technologies together create an entity that represents the whole sector above all of our individualities."
